St. Olaf Cello Festival

  • St. Olaf College Northfield, MN 55057 (map)

The St. Olaf Music Department is hosting a Fall Cello Festival on October 26. This one-day event will feature a cello ensemble rehearsal and concert, led by John Marshall, a widely-respected cellist and arranger. All are welcome to perform with the group and music will be available in advance. Also featured is a master class for high school students with Richard Belcher from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Performers for the class will be chosen through teacher recommendation and appropriate repertory. Students can request mini-lessons with St. Olaf faculty members David Carter and Anna Clift, and there will also be a discussion of college audition preparation. Finally David Folland, award-winning maker of cellos, violins and violas will be on hand with some of his instruments and for limited setup and tonal adjustments. The day of activities is free, and lunch is available (on your own) at several locations on campus. We hope to see you there! For more details,
