Workshop & Performance with Pifano Gogo

  • Hot Spot Music 801 Division St. Northfield, MN (map)

Pifano gogo is a five piece group that was formed with the help of a 2019 MN arts Initiative grant. They will present a performance & hands on workshop Sunday Oct. 20th from 1-4pm @ Hotspot Music in Northfield, MN.

The group plays all original music composed by John Croarkin. The music is a hybrid mix of rhythms and musical influences from Brazil & New Orleans featuring two Pifanos & three drummers. The Pifano is a delightful 6 hole traverse flute that has its origins in Northeast Brazil and still maintains popularity throughout Brazil. Following a short set by Pifano gogo audience members will have the opportunity to pick an instrument of interest (Pifano , Pandeiro, Zabumba, Berimbau, Triangle), and receive instruction from group members. Open to anyone at any musical skill level, don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the rhythms, melodies, and instruments of this unique group!
