$120 for all six sessions or $25 each for individual sessions.

Decode the mysteries of scales, chords and modes with JP Douglas, Staff Musician for the St. Olaf College Dance Department. This 6-week course will allow musicians of all instruments and abilities to brush up on the basics or unlock new knowledge. Best of all, have fun practicing with friends! Participants will:
- gain speed and confidence navigating the "geography" of their instrument
- learn how to construct common major, minor and blues scales
- understand how chords and scales relate to each other
- drill scale and arpeggio patterns to gain speed and agility
- improve ear training and improvisation skills
- explore favorite tunes to understand the theory behind cool sounds and phrases
