Northfield Jazz Jam Series

 Each spring, we bring a group of professional musicians to Northfield, MN for a series of open community jam sessions.  Sessions are open to all instruments and abilities, some come to play and many come just to listen.  The series culminates with a capstone concert featuring touring musicians from around the world.  Past performers have included French-born, Brooklyn-based Stephane Wrembel; Dutch violinist, Tim Kliphuis; and Minnesota's own guitar prodigy, Sam Miltich.  The 2016 Northfield Jazz Jam Series was a proud recipient of a Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage grant awarded by the Southeast MN Arts Council through assistance from the Northfield Arts Guild as our fiscal agent.

GIANTS OF GYPSY JAZZ

We here in Northfield are so lucky to be located right between major concert hubs like Minneapolis and Chicago, making our little town a vibrant and welcome stop for world-class artists touring across the country.  This spring, Hot Spot Music is incredibly proud and excited to welcome a host of fabulous musicians who are truly the modern-day giants of gypsy jazz.  Stay tuned for information on concerts and workshops by Brooklyn-based Stephane Wrembel, who will be performing at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater on Wednesday, May 18.  Then get ready to welcome Amsterdam-based Robin Nolan Trio and Madison-based MGSF founders, Harmonious Wail as they take the Wail's famed "Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest" on the road for a Northfield stop at the NAG theater on Saturday, May 21.  Check back soon for details, or Contact Us to join the mailing list and receive breaking news on these extra special events.

MADAME JAZZ

Join us for this occasional gathering of women in music.  Topics are chosen by participants and range from guest speakers to skill-building workshops to laid-back listening sessions.  A great way to celebrate sisterhood in the music world.  And yes - there will be snacks! (and wine...)
